About the Organisation
The Digital Humanities Alliance for Research and Teaching Innovations or DHARTI, is an initiative towards organising and facilitating digital practices in arts and humanities scholarship in India, both within and beyond academic institutes.
Role Overview
DHARTI is seeking a Website Editor to oversee the editorial life of its website and associated digital content. The role combines scholarly editing, content curation, and coordination with outreach and communications teams. The Editor will play a central role in shaping DHARTI as a reliable resource for the Digital Humanities community.
This is an editorial and curatorial position requiring sensitivity to academic content. This is not a content creation role.
Key Responsibilities
Editorial & Scholarly Content (under supervision by the website/steering committee)
- Solicit, commission, and manage invited contributions from scholars and practitioners
- Edit submissions to scholarly standards
- Maintain consistency in editorial style and voice across the website
Website Content Management
- Update and maintain website pages and resources
- Organise content for accessibility and long-term usability
- Work with the technical team (if applicable) to implement editorial changes
Outreach & Coordination
- Liaise with the outreach and communications team to plan and publish content
- Coordinate timelines for announcements and community updates
- Support the visibility of DHARTI’s activities through well-curated web content
Community Engagement
- Act as a point of contact for contributors and collaborators
- Support the development of DHARTI as a shared scholarly resource
Desired Qualifications & Skills
- Background in Digital Humanities, humanities research, cultural studies, or a related field
- Strong editorial skills, especially with scholarly or semi-scholarly writing
- Experience working with web-based content (CMS experience desirable but not mandatory)
- Ability to manage multiple contributors and editorial workflows
- Clear, thoughtful written communication
- Comfort working collaboratively in a distributed team
